Off The Record Music Camp 2018

Off The Record Music Camp is an accelerated music learning experience for kids and young adults, founded by Jennifer Zuiff and Andrew Hill (Owner, Producer, Engineer).  Both co-founders have extensive teaching experience.  Andrew Hill taught drum lessons privately and commercially for 9 years.  Jennifer (Indee Killed The Pop Star) has taught vocal lessons for over 10 years.  Both Andrew and Jennifer have been performing music almost their entire lives.  The two of them joined forces to establish this recording music camp in May 2015.  They are joined by the talented musician, producer, and fellow long-time teacher Patrick Taylor (Trash Panda, Lazuli Vane).

The goal of the camp is to provide young people with a crash course in recording in a professional studio atmosphere. This approximately week-long course consists of daily recording and also includes music classes which cover a broad range of subjects about the music industry and music performance, as well as basic courses in recording and engineering.  This camp will be tailored specifically to singers/vocalists in the 10-18 year old age range.  Subjects covered are:

  • Songwriting/Composition Arrangement
  • Vocal Practice
  • Instrumentation
  • Basic recording/engineering skills
  • Tempo/metronome practice
  • Recording sessions
  • Music business (how to copyright songs, publishing rights, small business, entertainment lawyers and management)
  • Music production
  • Launching songs on iTunes, Spotify, and 150+ other music platforms

Daily classes will also feature guest speakers in the music and entertainment industry.  By the end of the course, each student will be able to write and perform an original song, record in a professional studio, work with producers and engineers, and have the necessary tools to launch their professional music career.

Students are expected to have their song(s) mostly written before attending camp.

At the end of the camp, each student is guaranteed to have a professionally produced, engineered, mixed and mastered song that is ready for distribution on iTunes and 150+ other music platforms.
